All-New Mitsubishi Pajero 2026 Unveiled | Features & Specs
Mitsubishi unveils the all-new Pajero 2026 with a 2.4L diesel engine, 8-speed automatic, S-AWC, Super Select 4WD-II, seven seats and advanced safety technology.

Mitsubishi Motors has officially unveiled the all-new Pajero, bringing back one of the company’s most iconic nameplates as a completely redesigned cross-country SUV. The new model was revealed at its world premiere in Tokyo on September 2, 2026, and is positioned as a new-generation flagship for Mitsubishi Motors.
The all-new Pajero combines the brand’s traditional off-road capability with a more premium and comfortable driving experience. Mitsubishi says the new model builds on three key qualities: Confidence, Comfort and Prestige.

A new generation of Pajero
First introduced in 1982, the Pajero became known for its four-wheel-drive capability, reliability and ability to handle demanding terrain. Across four generations, more than 3.29 million Pajeros were produced, with the model gaining a following in more than 170 countries and regions.
The new Pajero carries forward recognizable elements of its heritage while adopting a much more modern design. Its upright proportions, strong horizontal lines, powerful fenders and distinctive T-shaped headlights give it a commanding road presence.
The SUV also features design references to previous generations, including a C-pillar inspired by the original Pajero's roll bar and a hexagonal rear design that reinterprets the traditional rear-mounted spare wheel.
2.4-litre diesel engine with 8-speed automatic
Power comes from a specially developed 2.4-litre clean diesel engine equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger. The engine produces up to 480 Nm of torque, providing strong pulling power for both road and off-road driving.
The engine is paired with a newly developed 8-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode.
Built for serious off-road driving
The all-new Pajero retains a rugged ladder-frame construction and adds Mitsubishi Motors' Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system alongside Super Select 4WD-II (SS4-II).
Drivers can select from four main four-wheel-drive modes:
2H
4H
4HLc
4LLc
There are also seven selectable driving modes: Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock.
The vehicle has 230 mm of ground clearance, a 30.4-degree approach angle, 22.6-degree ramp breakover angle and 25.8-degree departure angle, giving it the hardware needed for challenging terrain.
Seven-seat premium interior
Despite its off-road focus, Mitsubishi has placed considerable emphasis on passenger comfort.
The all-new Pajero features a three-row, seven-seat layout, with a sliding second row and a third row designed to provide improved space for passengers.
The cabin also features a large horizontal display integrating two screens, with displays measuring up to 14.3 inches depending on specification. The interior combines modern technology with design details inspired by Japanese craftsmanship.
Three-zone automatic climate control and seat ventilation are also available to improve comfort throughout the cabin.
Advanced safety technology
The new Pajero comes with a wide range of driver-assistance and preventive safety technologies.
These include Forward Collision Mitigation, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Emergency Lane Assist and Front Cross Traffic Alert. Mitsubishi's MI-PILOT system also combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance for highway driving.
The SUV is equipped with eight airbags, including Mitsubishi Motors' first SRS centre airbag.
Another notable feature is the 3D Multi Around Monitor, which combines camera images with a 3D model of the vehicle. An under-floor view can also help drivers see areas of terrain that would otherwise be hidden when tackling difficult off-road sections.
Designed for global markets, including the Middle East
The all-new Pajero will initially be launched in Thailand, followed by Japan and Australia during fiscal 2026.
From fiscal 2027 onward, Mitsubishi Motors plans to introduce the new Pajero in approximately 100 countries worldwide, including markets across ASEAN, Latin America and the Middle East.
For UAE and wider GCC SUV buyers, the return of the Pajero could make the model an interesting contender in the premium off-road SUV segment once regional availability and specifications are announced.
A new flagship for Mitsubishi Motors
The all-new Pajero represents a major return for one of Mitsubishi's best-known SUV names. Rather than simply recreating the previous model, Mitsubishi has combined its traditional off-road engineering with a more sophisticated cabin, advanced safety technology and a stronger premium positioning.
With its ladder-frame platform, diesel powertrain, SS4-II four-wheel-drive system and S-AWC technology, the new Pajero is designed to remain capable away from paved roads while offering the comfort expected from a modern family SUV.
For UAE drivers who remember the original Pajero and for a new generation of SUV buyers, the model's planned Middle East arrival from fiscal 2027 will be one to watch.
