Dubai announces five-day Eid Al Adha holiday
Dubai authorities have officially announced a five-day holiday for Eid Al Adha for government departments, public institutions, and government entities across the emirate.
According to the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR), the holiday will begin on Monday, May 25, 2026, and continue until Friday, May 29, 2026. Official working hours are scheduled to resume on Monday, June 1, 2026.
The announcement gives government employees an extended break to celebrate Eid Al Adha with family and loved ones.
Eid Al Adha and Arafat Day in UAE
Eid Al Adha is one of the most significant occasions in the Islamic calendar and is observed worldwide by Muslims through prayers, family gatherings, charity, and sacrifice.
Based on astronomical calculations, the Day of Arafah is expected to fall on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, while Eid Al Adha is expected to begin on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Final confirmation remains subject to the official moon sighting in the UAE.
Extended Break for Employees and Students
With the UAE weekend falling on Saturday and Sunday, many residents may enjoy an even longer break around the Eid period depending on leave schedules.
Dubai private schools have also announced holidays from May 25 to May 29, with classes resuming on June 1 according to the academic calendar.
