Dubai International Airport Welcomes 23.4 Million Passengers in First Quarter of 2025

Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world’s busiest international airport, has reported a strong start to the year, handling 23.4 million passengers in the first quarter of 2025 — marking a 8.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

The figures, released by Dubai Airports, highlight the airport’s continued growth and solidify its position as a leading global travel hub. The growth is driven by increased international travel demand and Dubai’s rising popularity as both a tourism and transit destination.

Top Destination Markets

India retained its spot as the top country in terms of passenger traffic, with 3.1 million travellers, followed by Saudi Arabia (2 million), the UK (1.5 million), and Pakistan (1.1 million). Among the top cities, London led with 961,000 passengers, followed by Riyadh, Jeddah, and Mumbai.

Flight and Baggage Performance

DXB recorded 109,238 flight movements during the quarter — an 8.3% increase year-on-year. The airport also maintained high efficiency in baggage handling, with a success rate of 99.8% and only 2.3 mishandled bags per 1,000 passengers.

Looking Ahead

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, praised the performance and attributed the growth to operational excellence and strong partnerships across the aviation ecosystem. “Our outlook for the year remains bullish,” he said, noting that DXB is on track to exceed 91 million passengers in 2025 — potentially setting a new all-time annual record.
