Dubai Mall, the world's largest shopping destination, continues to reach remarkable milestones in visitor numbers and development. In 2023, the mall welcomed over 105 million visitors, a significant 19% increase from the 88 million recorded in 2022.
This growth trend carried into 2024, with 57 million visitors in the first half of the year, marking an 8% rise compared to the same period in the previous year.
To accommodate this growing influx, Dubai Mall has embarked on a major expansion project. With a substantial investment of 1.5 billion dirhams ($408 million), the mall is adding 240 new luxury retail and dining options to its existing 1.2 million square meter complex. Currently, the mall houses over 1,200 retail outlets and more than 200 food and beverage establishments.
Beyond its extensive retail offerings, Dubai Mall is renowned for unique attractions such as a massive aquarium, an Olympic-sized ice rink, a virtual reality theme park, and a 26-screen cinema. These features make it a top destination for residents and tourists alike.
