Dubai RTA Launches Pilot Operation of Next-Generation Electric Bus

Dubai continues its smart mobility drive as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) begins the pilot operation of its next-generation electric bus, reinforcing the city’s commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly public transport solutions.

The electric bus is being trialed on Route 105, which connects the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station with the iconic Miracle Garden. Manufactured by Yinlong and equipped with advanced lithium-titanate oxide (LTO) batteries, the bus offers fast charging, a long life cycle, and high operational efficiency—ideally suited for Dubai’s climate conditions.

The RTA’s new pilot is part of a broader strategy to transition towards zero-emission transport. It aligns with the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative and supports Dubai’s vision to become a global leader in sustainable urban development.

Notably, the electric bus is equipped with modern safety and comfort features, including air conditioning adapted to hot climates, an advanced driver assistance system, and a lightweight body to boost energy efficiency.

The pilot program will run over several months, during which the RTA will closely monitor performance, user feedback, and environmental impact. Depending on the results, it may pave the way for a wider rollout of electric buses across Dubai’s public transport fleet.
