Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced an ambitious infrastructure overhaul aimed at significantly reducing traffic congestion and enhancing road capacity across the city. The comprehensive plan involves upgrades to 11 key corridors, with the objective of cutting travel times and accommodating the city's projected population growth.
Key Highlights of the RTA's Road Upgrade Plan
Enhanced Road Capacity: The upgrades are designed to double the capacity of major roads, enabling them to handle up to 8,000 vehicles per hour.
Reduced Travel Times: Significant reductions in travel times are anticipated. For instance, enhancements to Hessa Street are expected to decrease travel time from 30 minutes to just 7 minutes.
Infrastructure Developments: The project includes the construction of 9 kilometers of bridges and the enhancement of four major intersections, facilitating smoother traffic flow.
Sustainable Transport Options: A 13.5-kilometer cycling and e-scooter track will be introduced, complete with landmark bridges over Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, promoting greener commuting alternatives.
