Dubai has taken another step toward smarter mobility. A new system is now in place to give public buses priority at traffic signals, reducing unnecessary delays and making public transport more efficient than ever.

Instead of stopping at every intersection, public buses on busy routes are now detected in real time. When they approach a traffic signal, the system either extends the green light or shortens the red—giving buses a smoother path forward.
The result? Faster trips, fewer delays, and more people arriving on time.

This initiative is part of a larger plan to:

✅ Ensure buses stay on schedule
✅ Encourage more people to switch to public transport
In March alone, buses in these smart corridors achieved an on-time rate of over 80%, a strong indicator of progress in Dubai’s public transport system.
🚍 More Dedicated Lanes = Less Traffic Stress
Dubai is also expanding dedicated bus and taxi lanes. Six new corridors covering 13 kilometers are being rolled out across the city. These lanes are expected to cut travel time by up to 41% on some routes—saving time for both drivers and passengers.
With nearly 1,400 buses operating over 11,000 daily trips, the system is being fine-tuned to serve over half a million riders every day.
