Dubai just enjoyed a nine-day break for Eid Al Fitr, and now attention turns to the upcoming UAE public holidays. In 2024, the UAE Cabinet has confirmed a total of 14 public holidays for both the public and private sectors. While exact dates for some holidays are pending, dependent on moon sightings for Eid Al Adha, there will be a total of 14 days off.

Confirmed UAE Public Holidays 2024

While some of the exact dates are yet to be announced – as these will depend as usual on the moon sightings around the next holiday for Eid Al Adha – we do know that there will be 14 days’ worth of holidays in total. With eight different public holidays in 2024 and six of these still to come, it’s never too early to plan ahead so you can make the most of your time off.

Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha Breaks

Eid Al Fitr in 2024 spanned from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3, offering a nine-day holiday including weekends. Eid Al Adha is predicted to be a five-day holiday from June 17 to June 19, with the option to extend to a nine-day holiday using annual leave.

Islamic New Year and Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday

Islamic New Year is expected to fall on Sunday, July 7. Whether a public holiday on a working day will follow remains to be seen. The Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday is expected to fall on Sunday, September 15. Whether a public holiday on a working day will follow remains to be seen.

National Day Celebrations

National Day celebrations fall in December every year, and 2024 will be no different. Commemoration Day is expected to fall on Sunday, December 1, meaning you can expect a public holiday on Monday, December 2, and Tuesday, December 3. Roll on another four-day weekend.
